Invitation

This is your formal invitation to contribute to the ‘The Future of Text’ Book Vol V and Symposium.

The first volumes have seen contributions from leading academics, technologists, artists and thinkers in a wide range of disciplines. This volume will feature an Introduction by the co-inventor of the Internet, Vint Cerf and a Postscript by the founder of the modern Library of Alexandria, Ismail Serageldin. By contributing to this fifth volume you will join a most esteemed list of contributors. The theme this year is simply:

Going beyond current understanding

We ask what is beyond what we currently think of text as being and try to get a glimpse of potential as yet unseen. What might your perspective on this be? What might your field contribute to the future of thought and communication using text?

What lies beyond what we current understand the horizons of text might be?

Timing & Specifics

The deadline for the article submission is 20th of September 2024. However, you can also choose to contribute only an article or only a presentation, should you prefer. Please have a look at the Article Guidelines.

The Future of Text Symposium takes place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 in Vancouver, WA, USA, 9AM-5PM.

There is no cost to attend but registration is mandatory and spaces are limited (Registration will be available closer to the date).

Extending the Community

Is there someone extraordinary whom you feel should be approached with an invitation who has not been part of the Future of Text work so far? We are looking for fresh perspectives. Please get in touch with suggestions, especially if you can provide introductions. This year we are also open to sponsors so if you would like to sponsor The Future of Text or know someone else, person or organisation, please let us know. You should also feel free to see what we are doing at the Future Text Lab.

Thank you!

Thank you for considering being a part of the future of text.

Feel free to drop into our open weekly meetings, should you be interested. We meet every Monday 4-6 UK time. Please get in touch if you’d like to meet the team and discuss what we are about and how what you are thinking about might fit.
